Last week I attended the captioned event at Ribby Hall Conference Centre, in my capacity as Deputy Mayor of Fylde, accompanied by my Consort and husband, Howard.
The Prince’s Trust 12 week programme is organised by the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and is designed to assist youngsters from troubled backgrounds to modify their behaviour and change attitudes by stressing the importance of an individual’s contribution to a team effort.
The courses enjoy an 86% success ratio in equipping the participants to make the most of opportunities in further education and employment previously beyond their reach.
Each of the team members made a presentation of their experience before and after the course, which in many cases, were very moving in their honesty and all the youngsters displayed renewed confidence in their ability to improve their lifestyle and prospects.
The MC for the event was Nick Ingham, the City of Preston Fire Station Manager and Dave Russel, the Deputy Chief Fire Officer for Lancashire, gave the closing address.
The attached photo shows me with, 18 year old, Shanan Earl, one of the participants.
